    On the southwest corner of Pershing Avenue and Union Boulevard sits the cozy and mellow 2Schae Café, where you will usually find owners Lisa and Don Schaefer working behind, or around, the kitchen counter. Inside this neighborhood café, patrons will find a relaxed atmosphere and casual dining. Breakfast items such as omelets, bagel and lox, French toast and oatmeal are served all day, and their large lunch menu features cold and grilled sandwiches, salads, flat bread pizzas and quesadillas. On Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., 2Schae sells small pizzas made in-house, and on weekend morning and afternoons they serve up stacks of pancakes with a variety of fixings. 2Schae has plenty of seating indoors as well as a few tables and chairs on their patio along Pershing Avenue.

    CLOSED - The Annie Malone Children & Family Service Center first opened its doors in 1888 with the responsibility of caring for local African American and neglected children. Today, their mission remains the same, and to help them better serve the community, Annie Malone's has opened a full-service breakfast and lunch café on the seventh floor of city hall on Market Street downtown. Annie M. features breakfast items until 10 a.m., such as bacon- or sausage-and-egg biscuits, scrambled eggs, bagels, donuts and made-to-order omelets. For lunch, patrons can enjoy items including chicken wings, burgers, fish sandwiches and a chicken Caesar salad. As a part of Annie Malone's services, a portion of the café's proceeds go directly toward the center's cost of operation.

    I do declare, I do declare, there has been a murder, and you, sir or madam, can be a part of the action as it all unfurls, or just sit back and watch how the pieces all come together. Either way, meal and laughs will be provided. The former home of Captain Lewis Bissell, built in the 1820s and located in the north-side College Hill neighborhood, is now an everlasting crime scene, with homicides occurring every Friday and Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. For a fee, customers can witness the action and even take on a starring role if they so please while enjoying a four-course meal surrounded by the elegance of early St. Louis interiors, featuring large fireplaces, chandeliers and wooden doorways. The dinner menu, which comes with two glasses of wine, includes an appetizer, salad, entrée and dessert. Guests and suspects can choose from an eight-ounce strip steak, chicken Parmesan or a baked white fish served amandine for their main course. Weeknight shows are available at special group rates.

Blackberry, a hangout that's popular among Washington University undergrads, delivers all three. Blackberry's espressos and lattes go down smooth and sock you with enough caffeine to keep you wide-eyed as you bang out that overdue lit paper.     The coffee itself is pretty personal: It's pour-over, right in front of you. The coffee comes served on a metal tray with a coffee cup and beaker, which makes the whole thing feel crafted and scientific. There's also espresso and tea, as well as iced and decaf coffee. Blueprint isn't stingy with the food, either. The slices of bread -- English muffin, New York rye, French peasant, six-grain wheat, raisin cinnamon walnut -- are generous, as are the cheeses from Heartland Creamery. Cream scones, sour cream muffins and croissants were also on hand from Comet Microbakery. Blueprint also has housemade lemon raspberry, plum and peach preserves and compote.

    CLOSED - Bubble teas, originated in Taiwan in the 1980s, are lightly sweetened, milk-based drinks. Bubba Tea & Café in downtown St. Louis sells their creamy concoctions in more than two dozen different flavors, including lychee, cantaloupe and avocado. Teas can be orders on the rocks, slushed or hot, and, for an extra fee, with a handful of those little, black tapioca balls. Their full drink menu also includes several coffee and tea beverages. More than just a beverage counter, Bubba offers a breakfast menu featuring croissant, panini and bagel sandwiches, as well as a full lunch menu with wraps, salads and sandwiches. Their pizza panini is served on grilled white bread and comes with Provel cheese, tomato sauce, pepperoni and your choice of two other toppings. They offer plenty of café seating indoors and a few tables outside along Tenth Street.

    Husband and wife Wendell Bryant and Latoshia Morrow opened their family-friendly Cabana on the Loop as a relaxed, vacationlike spot to grab breakfast and lunch. The restaurant occupies a storefront on the eastern edge of the Delmar Loop and offers breakfast, lunch and weekends-only dinner. Dishes lean Southern, such as biscuits with turkey gravy, shrimp and grits and a fried catfish sandwich. Cabana on the Loop has a large selection of dressed-up waffles and French toast, as well as a cereal bar that diners can top with a variety of accouterments. Don’t leave without trying the honey-glaze onion rings -- these golden beauties are like a cross between onion rings and a funnel cake.
